He studied shakuhachi under Imase Kozan, shinobue and nohkan under Nishikawa Kohei, ko under Tosha Kaho, and tabla under Nakamura Hitoshi. He has been performing since 1977 and has a wide repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary and folk music. In 1993, he joined the global music band "Los Nerimos", playing shakuhachi flute and vocals, aiming for ”a sound with the heart of the earth and the wings of a small bird”. In 1995, he was promoted to shakuhachi DaiShihan (Grand Master). So far, he has released three CDs as a member of Los Nerimos, and performed on Etsuo Kawasaki's LPs "Yorokobi no Ki" and "Kami no Kazane".
