Mizuhashi Yōdō (birth name Tokuichi) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Momose Hōdō from the age of 21, and began taking on students when he was 25. In 1934, Momose introduced him to Araki Kodō III. Studying under Kodō, he earned the performance name Yōdō. He was the long-time president of the Araki-ha Yodo-kai of the Kinko-ryū and a permanent director of the Nagano Sankyoku Kyokai.
