Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido in 1954, Mitsuka Yukihiko studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Living National Treasure Aoki Reibo II and Tozan-ryū under Living National Treasure Yamamoto Hōzan. He became independent after passing 3 consecutive NHK Hōgaku Auditions. In 1988, he formed the unit EnTONE with shakuhachi, koto, and guitar, and has released 9 albums to date, including "EnTONE" from Pacific Moon. In addition to performing and composing, he developed the metal shakuhachi AireedX, a culmination of research into the shakuhachi at the shakuhachi production studio "Senshu Shakuhachi Studio," and research into recording methods for Japanese musical instruments at the epta312 studio led to an award for excellence in the Recording category at the 76th Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival. He is a well-known shakuhachi specialist.
