Takeda Ōzan

Shakuhachi
Takeda Ōzan was born in Shiga Prefecture. He graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 1992, and took his Masters examination in the Tozan-ryū in 1999. He has been a part-time lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts and an assistant professor of education and research. While a student at Tokyo University of the Arts, he studied shakuhachi under Living National Treasures Yamaguchi Gorō and Yamamoto Hōzan. Currently, he is a Grand Master of the Tozan-ryū Shakuhachi Gakkai. He is a member of the Japan Sankyoku Association, Shiga Sankyoku Association, Tozan-ryū Hōzankai, Toshima-ku Hogaku Renmei, and Take no Kai. He is a member of Gurupu Kohyo and the Yamamoto Hōzan Shakuhachi Ensemble.
