Born May 14, 1938 in Ishikawa Prefecture, Kuchiki Shudō (Kuchiki Akira) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Kuroda Kodō and started teaching in 1966. He belonged to the Kyoto branch of the Nihon Chikudō Gakkan.
