Asami Eizan (Asami Munehiro) was born February 2, 1909 in Osaka Prefecture. He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Abe Kōzan, Yamamoto Nozan, and Ueno Shūzan. He became an instructor in 1940. He belonged to the Tozan-ryū Shakuhachi Gaku-kai and was active as a teacher and performer for more than 40 years.
